In the present day, diversity is something that shouldn’t have to be forced, pushed, or reminded of. Yet, this past fashion week season, there was a notable shift backward in the progress of body diversity presence on the runway. As one of the industry’s brightest lights, supermodel Ashley Graham has surpassed barriers while demanding the respect and inclusion of curve models in high fashion. As an advocate for body positivity, her presence led the way for others to be included within the broadening framework of the modeling industry. After modeling for years, Graham nabbed a historic cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue back in 2016, which changed the trajectory of her career to include landing covers for American and British Vogue, V Magazine, and Harper’s Bazaar.
