David Mancuso’s Loft Tribute with Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy
In this episode, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy celebrates the anniversary and legacy of her friend and mentor David Mancuso’s legendary Loft parties.

Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is a highly respected and experienced musical selector and curator, founder of the album listening event and content hub Classic Album Sundays and an authority on music, sound and the vinyl renaissance.
She was mentored by David Mancuso at his seminal Loft parties in New York City. Together they co-produced the compilation series David Mancuso Presents The Loft and worked together on David’s record label The Loft Audiophile Library of Music. In 2000, David told Time Out New York City “ She is very devoted and very pure about the music. She’s one of the only people I would trust, both with the music and with the equipment, to fill in for me.” She is one of the musical hosts at The Loft, the co-founder of the Lucky Cloud Loft parties in London and DJs internationally on the world’s best sound systems and dance floors.
Classic Album Sundays tells the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture and in some cases, our lives. Colleen founded Classic Album Sundays as a stance against the increasing devaluation of music and sound. What began as a passion project is now the world’s most popular album listening event with satellites in four continents and the website and social media channels host content on classic albums and artists such as interviews, videos, playlists and more. BBC Breakfast Television remarked, “Classic Album Sundays treat our best-loved records like great symphonies.”
She has been a radio host and DJ since the age of fourteen and today hosts Balearic Breakfast, Cosmodelica and Classic Album Sundays Worldwide on Worldwide FM. She also wrote, co-produced and hosted the Classic Album Sundays series ‘This Women’s Work’ for PRX, ‘Sounds of a City’ series on BBC 6 Music and ‘Turntable Tales’ on BBC Radio 4.
She has put together her own compilations including New York Afterhours ‘A Later Shade of Deep’ for Nervous Records and The Disco-Tech of DJ Cosmo’ for Yellow Recordings. Her latest compilation, ‘Balearic Breakfast Volume 1’ is coming out on Heavenly Recordings on the 10th of June and can be pre-ordered here.
As a producer, Colleen has remixed Roisin Murphy, Mildlife, Hard Feelings, A Certain Ratio, Secret Night Gang, The Rapture, Lady Blackbird, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Beardyman, Candi Staton, Two Bears, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Cantoma, Horace Andy, Chaka Khan & more under her Cosmodelica moniker and as DarkStarr Diskotek with Ashley Beedle. Along with former Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas, she recorded and produced as Wild Rumpus.

A Journey through Italo Disco between ’83 to ’86 with DJ Subaru
DJ Subaru, a Leeds-based producer and DJ with a passion for collecting and sharing sleazy synth music from across the globe.
Since starting to DJ out in the wild post-pandemic, DJ Subaru has built up a reputation for being a genre-defying selector in Leeds’s queer nightlife scene. Starting their party last year, Pleasuremaxxx, a club night for music made for dancing but not for the club.
When not working the dancefloor, Dj Subaru can be found working in the studio on their synth-pop project Babes In love or other Italo-adjacent club music.
‘For this mix, I selected nine of my favourite Italo disco tracks, all recorded in Italy between 1983 – 1986. Unearthing treasures full of fragile nostalgia and seaside sunshine straight from Nonna’s record collection!’

Italian Jazz with South American flavours with Ma Nu
“A travel in the Italian jazz scene that has a strong Latin and Brazilian scent, with a particular view on the Bossa Ligure, a micro-genre that can be seen as a different form and aesthetic of Brazilian music, coming from Liguria, the region in north west Italy that reveal the biggest cultural & migrational connections with south America.”
Eclecticism in power, he interprets and builds his DJ-sets around the black acoustics without giving himself boundaries, with a touch that is the result of a deep diggin’ around stores, street markets and warehouses of records, selecting new productions and edits together with the recovery of old ones. Jazz, Funk, hip hop, dub, disco, house taken and put in a centrifuge with the exclusive use of 7 inches records, for a dynamic and always persistent mirage.
Dj of reference in the underground circuit in northern Italy, for a few years he has been part of the resident artists of the important Jazz Re:Found Festival, a benchmark reality in Italy with respect to black music in all of its forms.
Ma Nu is also the cornerstone of Riviera Gang Crew, for many years reference organization in the north-western Italian electric clubbing panorama.
He broadcasts for many years his black music Radio program every month on Radio Raheem in Milan. He passed and mix up a lot of Radio in Europe as Le Mellotron in Paris or Red Light Radio in Amsterdam and Kiosk Radio, or The Lot in NYC.
In the last year, he produce “Liguria Transatlantica” a collectanea only on vinyl dedicated to a particular Italian Jazz scene of Liguria, his region in northwest Italy, where you can feel a magical connection with South American and Brazilian jazz, not only on the music but also with the lyrics. This collectanea and his “music migrations” concepts became also a festival called “Transatlantica”, in Genova, capital city of Liguria.
He is also part of “Revelers Stone Bricks”, a musical project that travels in black music with no border with his discographic productions, and an element of the 7” inches edit label “Made to Dance Series”.

Dj de referência no circuito underground do norte da Itália, há alguns anos faz parte dos artistas residentes do importante Jazz Re:Found Festival, uma realidade de referência na Itália no que diz respeito à música negra em todas as suas formas.
Ma Nu é também a pedra angular do Riviera Gang Crew, por muitos anos uma organização de referência no panorama do electric clubbing do noroeste italiano.

Scarlett O’Malley is a DJ, presenter and documentary maker from West London. She has been collecting records since she was 13 and has been obsessed with the subculture, history, soul and house music, and clubs which has informed her taste and style when it comes to DJing. She recently had the release of her debut radio documentary on BBC Radio 4 ‘Being Jackie Wilson’ and finds her home on the radio at Rinse FM.
Every record played in this set was bought on Scarlett’s recent trip to Detroit, a mixture of local label house, soul 45s and some Latin-tinged dance music to represent her dig.
Scarlett O’Malley é DJ, apresentadora e documentarista do oeste de Londres. Ela coleciona discos desde os 13 anos e é obcecada pela subcultura, história, soul e house music e clubes que moldaram seu gosto e estilo quando se trata de DJing.
